Quartz Counters
CRS Quartz resurfacing products are comprised of 93% quartz, blended with 7% unsaturated polyester resins, additives, and inorganic non-fading pigments using the world patented vacuum vibro-compacted process. Imported from Italy, slabs are ideally suited for a wide range of horizontal and vertical resurfacing applications including counters, vanities, interior wall cladding and residential as well as even the largest scale commercial floors.
Quartz is a naturally occurring mineral found in great abundance on Earth, second only to water and is naturally hard and scratch resistant. Only diamonds, topaz and sapphire are harder than quartz. It is extremely dense, non-porous, non-staining with unusual depth, clarity and radiance.
Quartz is extremely resistant to cracks, chips, scratches, dulling, and abrasion. It is graded as a Class 1 material and has a PEI V rating. It's MOHS hardness rating is 7. It is virtually unaffected by heat, freeze-thaw, and acid.
Raw quartz crystals no large than rock salt are selected and ground, combined with bonding agents and colour, which are then heated and vibro-compacted to form an impenetrable surface.
The resulting slabs are a quartz matrix that will not develop fissures or cracks. A quartz surface is solid and remains impervious to water, moisture, or bacteria.
